“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” — James 4:8

​All my devotions today have been centered on a single, vital truth: the necessity of staying rooted in the Word and in prayer.
​Staying close to God keeps Him close to you. Yes, He is always with us, keeping an eye on things, and His angels are among us. But we cannot forget that the fallen angels are also here, working diligently to pull our focus away from where it truly belongs.

Kevin and I experienced the profound importance of this reality recently.

​In times like these, spiritual discernment is vital, and listening to the Spirit is imperative.

True challenges rarely look obviously malicious; there are wolves among us, some acting intentionally, and others who have simply been misled, believing with all their hearts that what they are doing is right.
Discernment allows us to see past the surface and tune out the daily noise so we can hear that still, small voice.

​We must intentionally put on the whole Armor of God. When you find yourself in the wilderness, you cannot build a defense in the middle of the storm.
By anchoring ourselves in truth now, we have the strength and the knowledge to stand firm.

​We know the Bible tells us that we are peculiar. The closer I get to the Lord, the more I feel that separation, and honestly, that is okay. I’ve always been considered a little different, and I’m sure I have family and friends who think that even more so now.

But “peculiar” in scripture doesn’t just mean strange to the world—it means we are God’s own treasured, purchased possession. When you know exactly where you are going, you would much rather be safe than sorry.
When we remain rooted in Him, the wilderness cannot break us, and we can confidently stand our ground, secure in who—and Whose—we are.
