She was once discarded, sitting quietly at the curb, waiting for her story to end. I asked if I could have her, and before long, she found herself in a new home.
For a season, she served as little more than a catch-all—a place where odds and ends gathered without much purpose. But in time, her true calling emerged.
Today, she proudly holds the tools of Bible study, journaling, prayer, and reflection. Upon her surface, thoughts become words, feelings find expression, and lessons learned are shared with others.
Two handmade shelves now keep her company, displaying reminders of faith, inspiration, and the things that matter most. And tucked among it all are treasures that may go unnoticed at first glance—the handmade drawings lovingly created and proudly gifted by my five-year-old granddaughter.
In her quiet little corner, she has found her place. No longer forgotten, she has become a sanctuary for learning, writing, praying, and dreaming. And somehow, this little black desk has become the centerpiece of yet another story rising from the depths of my heart and mind.
Sometimes the things the world casts aside simply need someone to see their value.
