Grateful

My eyes opened from sleep,
Sounds of You fill my head.
A smile forms on my lips,
in gratitude to wake again.

As my family slumbers,
my feet now pad the floor.
In the silence of the morning,
I feel Your presence more.

The coffee is now brewing,
the birds sing through the rain.
So thankful that You woke me,
Your effort not in vain.

I sit down in my favorite spot,
my Bible now in hand.
I open it to read Your Word,
to feel my heart expand.

So unworthy of Your love,
yet grateful You are near.
The Holy Spirit speaks for me,
my cheeks now stained with tears.
