For Granted

Every breath a gift,
this we take for granted.
Like waking in the morning,
we feel we’re firmly planted.

Our day to day routine,
starts when we first awake.
Not giving life a second thought,
with each step we take.

Today is just another day,
as soon it too shall end.
Our arrogance is that we’ll wake,
tomorrow once again.

Another second may not pass,
it’s time to recognize.
A life to play before the Lord,
to see it through His eyes.

If we died unto ourselves,
as we’re called to do.
Would the film be different,
would shame prevail thereto.
