Wounded by Words

image

Insecurity runs deep,
refusal to admit.
Until the anger rises,
and then we feel the hit.

With fury words come out,
which never should be said.
No apology enough,
to clear them from our head.

Why we say these things,
to cause hurt to another.
The words so painfully sting,
yet we say we love the other.

Tomorrow dawns again,
a tearful night has passed.
The anger now subsided,
begone the hateful wrath.

Insignificant the reason,
to cause the tongue to lash.
Before our tempers flare,
we must think before we act.

Deep wounds slowly heal,
by God’s unending grace.
To help us understand,
being in the other’s place.
