So much we take for granted,
as we go from day to day.
To see, to hear, to smell,
as wonders come our way.

A dear friend today is blind,
darkness fills his life.
His legs no longer hold him,
dependant on his wife.

His hands are losing feeling,
a little more each day.
A drummer in days past,
for the church he plays.

A smile upon his face,
a kind word for everyone.
A true love for the Lord,
this apparent to each one.

Although his eyes see darkness,
his heart is full of light.
So many things to learn,
from this dear man’s plight.

When we feel we’re tired,
our lives seem such a mess.
Take the time to look around,
our mess is so much less.
