My Cup Runneth Over

This morning, as I poured my coffee, I accidentally filled my mug right to the absolute brim. Looking at that cup sitting there, so full it was almost overflowing, God hit me with a visual reminder of Psalm 23: π˜”π˜Ί 𝘀𝘢𝘱 𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘡𝘩 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳.

Even when life feels overwhelming, God’s goodness and grace aren’t just barely enough to get byβ€”He fills our lives until they spill over with blessings.

That mug was the exact wake-up call my heart needed today.

It is far easier to lean into the negative than it is to reach for the positive.

When we walk through a trial, the hurt and pain can feel like a heavy fog, obscuring everything else. I found myself caught up in that snare recently, focusing on the mess rather than the miracles. But God has a gentle, persistent way of breaking through the fog to show us how full our cups truly are.

Last night, my husband, Kevin, and I had a long conversation about where we place our focus. He reminded me of what I already knew deep down: through it all, God is working. And just in case I missed the message, God doubled down. Later that evening, a friend sent a text out of the blue with encouragement. Then, waking up this morning, another message arrived with a video sharing the exact same encouragement Kevin had given me the night before.

God speaks to us in so many different ways. When He feels us getting caught up in the snare, He sends reminders through a friend’s text, an unexpected video, or a spouse who sees you hurting and wants to help carry the load.

Looking back, I am filled with gratitude. Three years ago, Kevin survived a cardiac arrest. Today, he is a completely changed manβ€”and I believe with all my heart that God spared him for many reasons, not least of which was for me. God knew what was coming down the road, and He knew I would need Kevin as my steady rock to guide me through this season.

Today and every day, I thank God for the people He has placed in my life: a husband who stands as a rock, friends who check in at just the right moment, and everyone who has faith in who I am, knowing my heart and my integrity are genuine.

Even in the hardest trials, we are never left alone. God is always at work, and today, my cup is overflowing.

  1. A coffee mug filled right to the brim becoming a reminder of Psalm 23 is exactly the kind of little thing God uses. It really is easier to lean into the negative, focusing on the mess rather than the miracles. He Calls Me Daughter by Alejandra Cabrera Tash is a Christian book that helps women see how their heavenly Father fills their lives until they overflow. I know the author personally, and I love helping share the good news about Jesus. This book speaks to the redemptive love of our heavenly Father!
