Coming Soon: Unbroken Bread — What an Unmilled Grain Teaches Us About Whole Faith
If you’ve ever stood in my kitchen while I’m milling fresh wheat berries, you know there is a world of difference between a raw grain as God made it and the stark white bags sitting on store shelves.
Every time I hold those small, hard kernels in my hand, I am reminded of how intentionally God created them. He designed every single seed with purpose—a protective outer shell, a living nutrient-dense core, and a starchy fuel interior, all working together in perfect balance. Yet, in our search for convenience, longer shelf life, and predictable results, human hands learned to strip the kernel down, discarding the very parts that give it true life and substance.
As I was baking recently, it got me thinking: How often do I do the exact same thing in my spiritual life?
How often do I try to sift out the “tough” or demanding parts of Christ’s teaching just to make my daily walk feel smoother, easier, and more comfortable?
Starting tomorrow, I am sharing a special 3-part devotional series called Unbroken Bread. Over the next three days, we’ll take a closer look at the three physical parts of a whole grain—the bran, the germ, and the endosperm—and explore the powerful spiritual lessons hidden inside the unmilled seed.
Part 1: The Shield We Sift Away (The Bran & Sacred Boundaries)
Part 2: The Life in the Seed (The Germ & Fresh Grace vs. Shelf Stability)
Part 3: Hungry on Starch Alone (The Endosperm & True Nourishment)
Whether you love the art of milling fresh grain or you are simply looking for a deeper, whole-hearted walk with God, I hope you’ll join me as we unpack what it means to embrace the whole truth of Christ—unrefined, unbroken, and fully alive.
Check back tomorrow morning for Part 1!
