“Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.”
~Colossians 4:6
As I was standing in the kitchen slicing a fresh loaf of bread today, a simple passing thought took root.
Crumbs are simply part of the process, falling gently whenever the bread is handled or shared.
Our interactions with the world around us work much the same way. In every conversation, quick exchanges, and quiet moments, we leave small traces behind. It makes me stop and wonder what kind of trail I am leaving.
Are those little pieces pointing toward something steady, gentle, and filled with the love of Christ? Or are they leading toward hollow, temporary things—like breadcrumbs trailing off toward a house of candy in the woods?
Our words and actions carry weight, even in the ordinary seconds of an average day. I know my own trail isn’t always as bright or thoughtful as I wish it were, and there is a quiet remorse in recognizing that. But I am deeply grateful for a God who gently convicts my heart, surrounds me with grace, and guides my steps every day.
