The Walk And The Worth

After a recent visit from a “Porch Pirate,” Kevin installed a Ring doorbell. He’s been having a blast playing with the tech, while I’m over here talking back to the camera! (I’m sure that’s no surprise to anyone who knows me. 😂)

But watching the footage gave me a bit of a reality check. I honestly forget that I walk the way I do. It’s no secret my physical walk is a little “funky.” While some people are quick to classify me as “disabled,” I’ve never seen myself that way. The camera might capture the “funkiness” of my gait, but it can’t capture a spirit that is standing tall.

It reminded me that life isn’t just about how others see us—it starts with how we see ourselves. If you can’t recognize your own worth, how can you expect anyone else to?

Made by Design
We are all made in the image of God. We are His handiwork, placed on this earth for a reason. If you are one of those people who beats yourself up all the time, you need to STOP.

The Bible tells us in Psalm 139:14:
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

You aren’t a mistake or a “glitch” in the system. We can’t always see the big picture, but there is a divine plan, and things work out as they should. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that He has plans to give us a hope and a future.

Speak Life Over Yourself

We are so quick to encourage others, yet we say things to ourselves we would never dream of saying to a friend. If “we are what we eat,” it is also true that “we are what we think.”

The next time you’re feeling down, look in the mirror and tell yourself the truth:

I am worthy.

I am beautiful.

I have a purpose.

I am loved.

My life has meaning.

Don’t just be an encourager for the world—be an encourager for your own soul. Today, choose to think like the masterpiece you were created to be.
