Aging Love

Helplessly she lives each day,
her husband by her side.
Her thoughts of how she used to play,
In memories she resides.

Her legs no longer hold her,
dependant on her care.
He lovingly looks after her,
A kiss to show he cares.

Married many years ago,
together a great life.
It wasn’t supposed to end this way,
an invalid as a wife.

A tear runs down her cheek,
as she looks off into space.
With gentleness he holds her hand,
and wipes her tear stained face.

We all should be so fortunate,
to find such love in life.
Not knowing what the future holds,
a hand to hold in strife.
