Same sex marriage is now legal in America. This has prompted people to take sides. Christians are described as intolerant. In part of a small group discussion recently, there were opposing views.
What is the definition of gay/homosexual? Is the sin the sex act itself?
The dictionary defines it as sexual desire or to be sexually attracted to a member of the same sex.
I have some good friends who are gay and they are also Christians. They have been together for 30 years. They don’t love each other because of sex. They truly love one another as the individuals they are.
What about the other sins in the Bible? Divorce is a sin. Remarriage is a sin. Lying is a sin. Stealing is a sin. Having impure thoughts is a sin. The list is endless.
As human beings, it is our innate nature to sin. We all do it every day. Does God not forgive and forget? Is one human being any better than another when it comes to sin? I’m no Bible scholar and I have a LOT of learning to do. But the Bible does say “there are none righteous, no not one” Romans 3:10
So when did we become judge and jury? Isn’t it God’s job to judge and ours to love? As individuals we will answer for our own actions, and only our own, when the day of judgement arrives. Jesus told us to share the Gospel, to love and forgive one another as we have been forgiven. I may not agree with the majority of what goes on in this world, and until I am perfect, I will do my best to live as Jesus instructs us, with kindness and love for all .
